Hamburger patties from your beef??

We are offering to hand press your hamburger and make  1/4 lb, 1/3 lb, 1/2 lb and 1 lb hamburger patties if you wish.  They are all hand pressed and  made to your specifics.  We can stack them in a bag of 4?  6?   8?   Only $2.75 per pound for us to grind it twice, then press and form it into your choice of patties.   Why do it yourself??

It's getting close to summer.....what does that mean?  BBQ'N!!!    Voget Meats will sell you steaks, hot dogs, sausage and hamburger patties.  It's a great time to buy a whole, half or a quarter of beef as well.  Ranchers are looking for buyers.  Did you know that it is a lot cheaper to buy a portion of beef and get it cut the way you want then it is to buy all the cuts from a grocery store?  Ribeye Steaks are about $13.00/lb now.  That's about 2 steaks at 3/4".  Crazy right?  So call us at 503-981-0441 and ask about growers who are looking to sale their beef.  

New FEE for using us as your freezer storage!

Today marks the day of a new fee that we have been holding back.  $40.00/week after we notify you that your beef is ready for pickup.  This fee kicks in 14 days after we make our first initial call to let you know.   This fee can not be waived.

Hunting Season

With the busy season upon us for over a month now, we are extremely busy with beef, hogs and sheep.  We have teamed up with Voget Meats to help us cut and process your game.   We won't be able to take your game animal until after all these fairs are over and maybe it will slow down for us, but during this time, Vogets will be more than happy to take in your game animal.  Give us a call and we will direct you either way!  503-981-0441

What killing your beef or game animal in hot weather can do to the meat?????

What is this picture of?  This is a picture of a hip joint on a hind quarter.  It is a beef that was slaughtered when it was hot and it never really got cool enough when we received it.  The blood doesn't have a place to bleed out and while it is waiting to be cooled down, the blood turns into bacteria which then causes bone sour in the hips and joints.  This starts the process of decay and will give the entire beef a sweet smell and will start to turn the meat a turquoise color.  This is most common in game animals because hunters don't always cool the meat right away.  This does happen during hot periods of the year when beef or hogs are slaughtered and then aren't cooled immediately.  This has nothing to do with how we process your meat except we will throw most of it away.  This all can be stopped by allowing your animal to cool down right away and let it bleed out instead of collecting in the joints.   We don't see this till when we start processing your beef.  The process of bone sour is slowed down when it reaches our coolers but it has begun way before we even get it.    #themoreyouknow

What does this mean???   It means we are no longer taking in any animals for the time being unless you are scheduled with Yoder Meats.  It has come to this for many reasons and the main reason is that we cannot provide you with the service you need or the service you deserve from us because we are behind.  We have our coolers filled with beef and we can't cut 20 beef in one day.  It's impossible for us!  So then we must push the beef out another day or longer and it isn't what we want to do or what you want.  In order to stop this we must stop taking in large quantities of animals in one day.  We have to do this in order to provide you with the service we are known for.   #themoreyouknow

Our friends at Roselawn Seed, Inc. are looking for buyers for their beef.  $2.50/lb on the hanging weight.  Angus Cross cattle that are fed from their own feed from their family farm.  No hormones or antibiotics added!  They have been raising these beef since 1968 and look amazing when they come in to our processing plant.  We love cutting their beef when they come in and a lot of us here at Sharp's have purchased from them.  You know that says a lot about their beef when the people who process them want to buy some.  Give them a call 503-871-8127  or email them at [email protected]

Game Hunters

WE ARE FULL!!!  We will not be taking in any game animals this year due to the increase of domestic animals being slaughtered and brought to us.  There is just no way we can provide the service to you and still try and keep up with the beef, sheep and hogs that we are getting in.  We are behind as we speak and will be even further behind.  So as of right now, Vogets is teaming up with us and they are taking in game animals BUT space is limited and you need to call in advance 503-981-6271.  

Growers

16 to 18 day hang.  That's how long your beef is hanging as of today.  We are extremely full and have had to make the tough decision of turning mobile slaughter companies away that have been coming to us.  We understand that you might have been scheduled months in advance but that doesn't guarantee that your animal will be able to come to us.  We can't cut 15 beef a day along with sheep and hogs.  When we receive 12 to 18 beef in a day plus hogs and sheep, you can see where we get behind fast.   We have stopped this and that's why we have shut down to certain mobile slaughter companies.   We are working hard to get caught up and will try to get you in as soon as we can.  

Been awhile!

It's been awhile since we have posted anything and we apologize for that!  We have been crazy busy and we are almost caught up but with the Holiday's around the corner, we will go right back to being a little bit behind again.  We appreciate all the help that we have gotten from some growers by putting things off a little longer to get us their product.  We can only take in and hold so much.  We have been running at pretty much capacity for almost 6 months now with not really any end in sight.  It's been a wild ride for 2018.  We hope you enjoy Christmas with your family and a Happy New Year!  We are looking forward to 2019 and staying busy the entire year!

Where did January go??

I can't believe that January is over and February is  ending next week!!!  Time sure is flying by!  Anyways we are finally slow enough to take a breath!  It was a crazy 2018 and we look forward to another crazier year!   Pretty soon it will be Fair season and warm weather and then back to Fall.  The never ending cycle of life.  We still have some growers looking to sell their beef and if you are looking to purchase one, call and talk to us and we can give you some information on who to call to get your whole, half or quarter of a beef.

Are you looking for a PT or FT job?  Well we have some openings here in our little shop.  We are looking for some people who will fit into our amazing crew.  We are currently accepting applications for meat wrappers and meat cutters.  We will train the right person for the job and will help you get faster and faster.  It's not the easiest job.  On your feet all day, working with your hands, working in a cooler with the a/c on even during winter, laughing and having fun.   We take some serious pride in what we do and in our finished product.   If you take pride in what you do and are looking for something different.......come see us and fill out an application!

Our 2019 gift certificates have arrived and are available for purchase.  They make a great gift for anyone who is getting their meat processed or if they are purchasing a beef from us.  They come in any amounts and have to be used for the processing fee for beef, hog, sheep or game animal.   Great gift for hunting season!!!!

Reminder:   Storage/Freezer Fees

Just a reminder that we start charging you storage/freezer fees to keep your meat in our freezer once 14 days have passed after our first initial call to let you know your meat is ready for pickup.  This fee is $40/week and so far we have been calling and warning you before we add this fee.   Once we call, please come in and get your meat picked up in a timely manner.
